Maithri Trust continues to serve
the society during this Covid pandemic, though the Trust is primarily focussed
in funding Children’s education from Economically Weaker Section, during this crisis
it has also taken up the responsibility of extending a helping hand to the
families of these children. Most of the children’s parents are dependant on
daily wages/household chores. Many of them have been deprived of their income
for the last 3 months & this loss of income may continue till August 20, if
normal life starts in July 20.
During April and May 20, Maithri
Trust has supported around 26 families with around 7000/- each, (average) for
their monthly expenses other than providing them with kit containing essential’s,
which includes rent on their homes. These are tough times and even donors who
regularly fund the education budget find it difficult to provide additional
funding during these crisis, though many have come forward to support the
families, Maithri is short of funds to support another 12 families.
